April 25, 1940 - November 9, 2015
William A. “Bill” Baumgardner, 75, of Seminole, FL, passed away peacefully at Morton Plant Hospital on November 9, 2015 with his wife and best friend by his side. He always wanted to try just about everything during his life; he was a real Renaissance Man. Bill was born in the small town of Greenville, Ohio on April 25, 1940. Even though it was home, all the community had to offer was factory work or farming. He made the decision to move away and go to a larger town with more opportunities when he turned 21 years of age; so off to Washington, D.C.. Washington D.C. turned out to be the bigger place to spread his wings and try different things. He got a job at GEICO Insurance Company where he worked for many years. In 1991 Bill moved to Seminole and began his first adventure with a group of square dancers; he first had to learn all the dance moves which took over a year to learn. Bill kept square dancing for five years before moving on to the next level. Bill met a guy with a sailboat and he asked Bill to crew for him. Bill enjoyed boating and always wanted to work on a boat. As he learned and progressed as a boat crew member, others sailors befriended him and included him in racing as a Sunday Mariner in Dunedin. He did that for two years. Bill met an interesting couple who were professional clowns. After six months, he learned how to apply clown makeup and went to grand openings and activities with children. His training including magic and balloon tricks. Three years ago, Bill’s mother passed away and he found himself wanting to do something different. He was talking with his best friend Dean Gunter, who has been a funeral director for 50 years, about work in the funeral service. Bill took the challenge and began working as a funeral associate with Dean at Reese Funeral Home in Seminole. Once again, Bill excelled because of his kind heart and willingness to help people. He worked in the funeral home for three years and left when Dean retired. Bill was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for the last 12 years and sang in the choir for several years. He will be sorely missed by his wife, Dawne, of 38 years.
