Roger Kent Rue

November 26, 1934 - June 8, 2019

Roger Kent Rue, 84, of Largo, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, 8 June 2019. Born in Mt. Holly, New Jersey, he was the oldest son of Kenneth Leroy Rue and Mildred Elizabeth Gettinger. He was preceded in death by his second wife -Barbara Rue (2018). He is survived by his first wife - Beatrice (Grover) Rue and his brother, Reed G. Rue; his children - Sheila R. Rue and her husband, Steve S. Coghill, Kenneth E. Rue, Richard K. Rue and his wife, Rachel M. Rue; by his grandchildren - Melissa File, Corey Rue, Kayleigh Rue, Erin Coghill, Ian Rue and great grandchild, Atticus File; by his step children - Donald White, Perry White, Randy White, and Sirena Jones; by his step-grandchildren - Donny White, Jr., Chris White, Lisa White, Jack White, Perry White, Jr., Michael Jones, Jr., and Johnny Bartholomew, Jr.; and by his step-great-grandchildren - Eris White, Mason White, Aria White, Melinda Melcelo, Sahie White, and Haley Jones. Roger served in the Air Force for 20 years, assigned to bases throughout the United States and Europe. He served 13 months in Vietnam from May 1968 to June 1969, where he received a Purple Heart. After retiring from the military, he had another career serving veterans at the VA St. Petersburg Regional Office in St. Petersburg, FL. He was beloved by his friends and his family. A small funeral ceremony will be held at Bay Pines Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL on Tuesday 25 June 2019.
