Priscilla Erfe Mallare
December 12, 1935 - September 5, 2021
Our dearest and beautiful mother, Priscilla E. Mallare of Belleair Bluffs, FL faced the sunset of her days on earth and entered her rest and is peacefully reunited with our Creator and our beloved father Gregorio Mallare, Sr. and grandson Joel Mallare, Jr. on Sunday, September 5, 2021. Her five children surrounded Priscilla in her final days as well as her grandkids. Priscilla was born in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines on December 12, 1935. She was one of six children and became the valedictorian of her class, received a Bachelors Degree in nursing at the University of the Philippines. She loved the Lord with all her mind, body, and spirit and lived a life of integrity, strong character, joy, generosity and excellence. Along with her husband and children, she moved to the United States in 1970. Priscilla resided in Canton, Michigan where she raised her family and became very involved with the Filipino community. She was a registered nurse, college professor of nursing at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (Go Blue!) and held many Filipino organization leadership roles including the Philippine Nursing Association. Gregorio and Priscilla were also proprietors of a neighborhood market called Asian Mart, just several miles from their home in Michigan. In 2000, Priscilla and Gregorio retired to Indian Shores, FL. Priscilla loved her new retirement life on the beach, made new friendships at St. Jerome Catholic Church and took many trips to Las Vegas and around the world. Even though they came to Florida to retire, Priscilla’s energetic spirit could not be contained in retirement and she returned to work as a devoted nurse at Veterans Bay Pines Hospital until the age of 74. Priscilla was known by many to be a very hip Nana/Lola! As a grandma, she became tech savvy and learned photography, filming, editing and technology. She had her own social media accounts on FaceBook, Instagram and email. She also became an influencer on SnapChat stories. She kept in touch with many friends and family all over the world. Everyone who knew Priscilla were not only deeply loved by her but were being prayed for by her. She put her trust in Christ and no matter what the outcome, she believed “His will be done” in all situations. Her love and dedication to God radiated through everything she did. She loved meeting people everywhere she went and created hundreds of bonds of friendship. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing mahjong, cooking impromptu meals of pancit, adobo and her famous eggs and rice dish. Not only was she an excellent chef, but she would make special deliveries to your doorstep to celebrate special occasions or to feed the sick and hurting, rain or shine. She served her beloved St. Jerome Catholic Church as a volunteer, eucharistic minister, and was actively involved in the Legion of Mary. She is survived by her 5 children: Joel Sr. (married to Darlene), Gregorio Jr. (Erin), Christine (Joseph White), Caroline (Robert Bloomer) and Rosemarie. She has 7 beautiful and talented grandchildren: Joel Mallare, Jr., Nicholas Mallare (married to Sanja), Lauren Mallare, Jessica White, Joey White, Joshua Bloomer and Rebecca Bloomer. She is also survived by her sisters Gloria Gacad and Perlita Crisostomo and many nephews and nieces. She lived a wonderful, exciting life and accomplished many dreams. Priscilla was dedicated to the Catholic Church serving God. She loved being a part of the lives of her grandchildren and was involved in their care from the time they were born into the adults they are today. She will be missed immensely for her kind and loving ways and as Psalm 23:6 says, "Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”—- Funeral Service on September 10, 2021: St. Jerome Catholic Church, 10895 Hamlin Blvd., Largo, FL 33774 10AM EST Visitation and Viewing 11AM EST Funeral Mass Luncheon Reception following mass until 3PM EST Graveside Service will be held at the Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd, St. Petersburg, FL 33708 at a future date.
