Philip James Bruzzichesi

March 8, 1942 - August 2, 2017

Philip J. Bruzzichesi, age 75, died due to heart complications early Tuesday, August 1 at the Bay Pines VA Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. Born on March 8th, 1942 in Newark, NJ to parents Ralph and Ann Bruzzichesi, he graduated from Newark’s own Barringer High school in 1960 and soon thereafter joined the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed at Camp LeJeune, NC and Marine Corps Barracks Bermuda, where he fell in love with the tropical climate. In 1974, Philip obtained a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University. He later went on to work as an Escambia County deputy sheriff, Indian Rocks Beach police officer, HRS/DCF agent, polygraph technician, and then pursued his greatest passion as a crime scene investigator for the city of St. Petersburg. Philip was an avid reader and accomplished storyteller, with a magnetic charm that made friends wherever he went. Philip is survived by his brother Ralph, two adult children, Jason and Nicole Bruzzichesi, and two granddaughters, Anastasia and Kirja Bruzzichesi. Services will be held this Saturday at 1pm at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Largo.
