Mary Alvarado “Grammy,” 84, wife of the late Henry J. Alvarado (2002) passed away Monday, February 13, 2017. Mary was a long time resident of St.Petersburg, FL. She was born in Brooklyn, NY August 2, 1932 later moving to Newburgh, NY. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who lived to take care of others. She loved the simple things in life like going grocery shopping, cooking, reading, playing card games, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. She was always upbeat and wore a smile on her face even as she suffered with severe dementia in her last few years. She is survived by her only daughter Belinda Thomas of St. Petersburg, FL and four sons Harry Alvarado of Newburgh, NY, Richard Alvarado of Newburgh, NY, David Alvarado and wife Nora of Newburgh, NY, and Matthew Alvarado of Huntsville, Alabama; grandchildren Ann Blinkey and husband Jonathan Blinkey, Michael Alvarado and wife Sarah, Tara Alvarado, Taylor Alvarado, Kristina Alvarado, Tomacita Maritza Alvarado, David Alvarado Jr and wife Angela Alvarado, Celina Haas and husband Charles Haas, Daniel Alvarado, Dominique Alvarado, Jasmine Alvarado and Emily Alvarado; great grandchildren Alyssa Blinkey, Jacob Blinkey, Julian Alvarado, Gianna Ortiz, Angel Cruz, Osvaldo Duenas, Crystal Cruz, Cynthia Cruz, Rocco Alvarado, Brooke Haas and Charlie Haas; and two great great grandchildren Tia-Bella and Mason. In addition to her husband Henry, she was predeceased by her son Henry John Alvarado March 1, 2014. The family is holding a Celebration of Life at El Rey Court in the clubhouse Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 2pm to 4pm.
