Martha L. Colvin

Martha L. Colvin, of Largo Florida, passed away on the feast day of St Francis, October 4, 2015 after a brief illness, surrounded by her family. Martha was born in Buffalo, New York in 1927, but spent her childhood years in Marlinton, West Virginia. She was the daughter of John Jaworski and Anne S. Walker. She was married to John D. Colvin in Buffalo, New York in 1945. After living briefly in Buffalo they moved to Tonawanda, New York. A devoted mother and housewife she raised three children – Shirley M Dorband (born 1946), Robert A. (born 1953) and Nancy D (born 1957). Martha was an avid reader and like St Francis respected and cared for all of God’s creatures. She always was accompanied by her dog. Martha was an avid gardener and truly had a green thumb. Plants always thrived under her care. Her family was appreciative of her excellent cooking skills, as well. Martha was a collector of knickknacks and adorned many shelves and tabletops around her home with them. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband and sister Julia C. Gauthier and brother Johnnie L. Gauthier She is survived by four grandchildren – Christopher Dorband and Adam Dorband, and John R Colvin and Benjamin A Colvin sons of Robert and Sharon L. Colvin (Koller). She is survived by one great-grandchild Evan, son of Christopher and Anne Dorband. A memorial service will be held later. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Largo Medical Center for their compassionate care of Martha in her last days.
