A loving husband and father of four daughters, Marcos A. Alegre, 86, of Seminole, Florida passed away peacefully at the Mid Pinellas Care Center Hospice in Pinellas Park, Florida on January 2, 2022. He was born on October 28, 1935 to the late Sixto and Icela Alegre in Huaraz, Peru. Marcos was a retired Civil Engineer and a member of the St. Pete Mad Dogs Triathlon Club. He was an inspiration to many for being a world champion Ironman triathlete. He had a legacy of faith and he was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Largo, Florida. All who met Marcos, adored him. He had a gentle spirit, a zest for life and an enormous love for his family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rita (Silva) Alegre of Seminole, Florida; his four daughters, Rocio Neill and husband, Quentin of Texas; Diana Tobias of Florida; Cecilia Collins and her husband, Tommy of South Carolina; and Claudia Weir of Texas; five grandchildren, Tommy, Mia, Adam, Mark and Jack; three sisters, Beatriz, Dora, and Fina. In addition to his parents, Marcos is preceded in death by his brother Dino Allegre. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Largo, Florida on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 12 p.m. (noon). The family will receive friends after the Mass in the Parish Center.
