Kathleen E. Lahey, age 61, died, Wednesday, February 12, 2014. She was born in Paterson, N.J.. She is survived by her loving husband, Chris, 3 brothers, Gerald Lewis, Largo, FL; Timothy Lewis, Green Bay, WI; and Kenneth Lewis, Hamden, CT.; 5 Children, Daniel Donaldson, Cape Coral, FL; Christopher Lahey, Hopatcong, NJ, Maggie Lahey, Jersey City, NJ; predeceased by Amy Donaldson Campbell and Jessica Donaldson Quinn. 6 Grandchildren, Aidan, Noah, Owen, Gavin, Liam, and Madison. Also, her Mother-in-law, Helen Lahey of Largo. Kathleen adored her children and grandchildren and spoke of them with a gleming smile on her face (she was not Grandma, but was called Delanie”). Kathleen grew up in Jersey during a time of the “flower child” and “free-spirit” thinking. Nothing is more New Jersey than the bustling boardwalks and the Jersey Shore sound. She enjoyed her younger years with her brothers on the Jersey Shore frequently visiting her Grandparents and cruising the towns in her VW Bug. Kathleen, who proudly referred to herself as a “Hippie,” and her husband of 22 years, Chris moved from Hopatcong, NJ in 2006 to the Florida Suncoast, never wanting to be too far from the water and the sunshine. While here she worked as a waitress for several years before recently retiring to spend more time with her family and in her garden. It is easy to see the spirit of the flower child never left as her home is surrounded by various plants and flowers bringing calm and peace to anyone walking near her home.
