Frank Farris

John Franklin Farris, 63, died peacefully on February 10TH, 2018 at Hospice Woodside in Pinellas Park, FL surrounded by his family and friends. Frank was born to Ralph and Reva Farris in Elmhurts, IL. He spent most of his childhood in Johnston City, IL. Before moving with his parents to St. Petersburg, FL. After finishing high school, Frank became a pioneer in the emerging Pinellas County Emergency Medical Services system, and became one of the first State of Florida certified Paramedics in the early 70’s. Frank later grew into an icon in Pinellas County EMS during his long 42year storied career as an EMT and Paramedic. During his career he earned the respect and admiration of his peers due to his morals, ethics, passion, and selfless nature in helping others; including his fellow brother’s and sister’s in EMS, FD, and law enforcement. In 1993 Frank earned EMT of the year for Pinellas County EMS. Frank’s sons, Jon-Michael, followed his father’s footsteps in EMS, and credits his father’s mentoring for his success. Frank Farris is survived by his wife Karen, his sons Jon-Michael and Shawn, daughter-in-law Jazmin, and his grandchildren Phenix and Nikkolett. Funeral services will be held at Anona Church in Indian Rocks, FL. with a small reception to follow at Sunstar Paramedics Headquarters in Largo, FL. Funeral arrangements are through Grasso Funeral and Memorial Services.
