Edward James Aiosa
August 20, 1957 - November 7, 2020
On November 7, 2020 our Best Friend, Father, and Husband earned his angel wings. Five years ago, Dad was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer and ever since has been defying the odds. With the love and support of his family, friends, and Dr. Lane Ziegler of Florida Cancer and Dr. Kevin Tralins of Bardmoor Cancer Center, Dad underwent chemo-therapy and radiation, all while keeping a smile on his face, going into the office, and into court every Tuesday and Thursday. Although this pandemic has been horrible in so many ways, it also blessed us with cherished time to spend with him. We spent our days feeding the turtles and birds, bike riding, Corvette joy rides, watching the sunsets, going on strolls in Walsingham Park, kayaking, watching “doggy TV,” and eating lots and lots of chocolate. Edward was born on August 20, 1957 and grew up with his two sisters and six brothers in Centereach, New York. He first received a scholarship to run cross country at Cornell University and become a Veterinarian, but later decided to change his career path to pursue law. He graduated from St. John’s University in Queens, New York with a B.S. Magna Cum Laude (1979), M.S. in Counseling (1984), and Juris Doctor in Law (1988). Ed practiced law in New York and Pinellas County, Florida for over 30 years and was a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Court Mediator and Civil Traffic Infraction Hearing Officer. On August 11, 1990 he married Babette and this past August celebrated 30 years of marriage. They share two daughters, Jacqueline and Victoria, son-in-law Casey, and currently have a golden-doodle, Kadi, who they love just as much. November 7, 2020 marks a bittersweet milestone for many of us as we experience the loss of such a kind-natured soul. With so much love and happiness surrounding this individual, it is natural to be reluctant with our goodbyes. And as we find our footing, it is important to acknowledge this profound grief in order to embrace the life he helped us create. We have been blessed with this person who has guided us to where we are today and will continue with us on our journeys. You can find Ed’s spirit when you hear the birds singing outside your window, on your next bike ride, during your next fly-fishing adventure, or guiding your hand as you pick the next tomato from your garden. Edward appreciated many things; however it was the simple joys in life that brought him the most happiness. Ed loved getting lost in his garden, spending time with his family and friends, and will be remembered for his quick wit, gentle words, and unconditional love. A funeral service will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Largo, FL on Friday November 20th at 2pm, followed by an ash burial ceremony held at Serenity Gardens in Largo FL at 3/3:30pm.
