Dorothy Louise Hall

Dorothy L. (Huff) Hall of Seminole, FL known for her loving heart and giving spirit left the cares and worries of this world on August 13, 2015. She was a happy and thoughtful woman that was always learning, growing and sharing her knowledge. She lived her life as she wished and was kind to others. Her love and sense of humor will be missed by her family and many friends. Born in Decatur, IL on April 22, 1944 to Jesse “Pete” and Inas (Dietz) Huff. She graduated from Mt. Zion High School and took many different classes at Richland Community College. In 1974 Dorothy started an extensive career with the City of Decatur. Over the years she worked many different positions. The one she was most proud of was to serve as the first female Animal Control Warden for the City of Decatur. During her time as an Animal Control Warden she met her soulmate Joe Lowe, who stayed by her side for the rest of her life. In 2009, Joe and Dorothy retired to Seminole, FL where Dorothy became very involved in Florida Herb Society and the Pinellas County Extension Office where she became a Master Gardner. She served many volunteer hours in the community. She always enjoyed volunteering for the Christmas Lights at the Botanical Gardens in Largo. Some of the many things she enjoyed doing were motorcycle riding, gardening, working in her yard, scrapbooking and just spending time with family and friends. Dorothy was proceed in death by her parents. Surviving is companion Joe Lowe, of Seminole, FL and his family in Decatur, IL that accepted her as part of their family. Daughter Sandra Robb (Bruce) of Seminole, FL and sons Chad Hall of Lithia, FL and Michael Huff of Decatur, IL. Brother John Huff (Melody) of Bradenton, FL and nephew Jesse Huff of PA, niece Michelle Mueller and 3 great-nieces of Decatur, Il. Grandchildren Khristina Robb, Alan Robb (Quanna) of Freeman SD and Matthew Robb (Rose) of Colorado Springs, Co and 8 great grandchildren. She will be laid to rest near her parents, grandparents, many aunts, uncles and cousins at Headyville Cemetery, Dietrich IL. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Headyville Cemetery in care of Bob Chesnut 4818 North 100 St, Dieterich, IL 62424.
