Colleen Ann Evers

April 6, 1937 - July 6, 2020

Colleen Ann Evers (Nathe) Born April 6, 1937 on the family farm in Greenwald, MN. She passed away of pancreatic cancer peacefully in her home on July 6, 2020, under the care of her children, grandchildren and the support of hospice in Largo, FL. After graduating high school, she moved to Minneapolis to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse. Soon after her graduation, she met and married the love of her life, David. She continued to work as a nurse while putting David through college and raising four children. In 1978, the family moved to Texas where she dabbled in her own business with her best friend, Sherry, but ultimately ended up working with Sherry as a nurse until she retired. Hard-working and diligent as she was, Colleen never complained one day in her life. She was as dedicated to her patients as she was to her family and friends. Upon retirement, Colleen and David moved to Largo, Florida, to enjoy the sun and sand. Together they enjoyed traveling through 49 of the 50 states, and she enjoyed three vacations in Europe. Colleen was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, nurse and friend. She was slow to anger and always forgiving of others. She was generous with her love and time, and never hesitated to help those in need. Her laugh could light up a room and her gentle smile calmed any anxious heart. She never spoke an ill word about another person. She walked in beauty, grace, and wisdom, and always knew just what to say to make you feel better. All of these traits she lived out effortlessly. Those who knew Colleen were inspired to live better lives simply by looking at how she lived hers. The countless stories of her kind deeds, loving words, jokes, gingerbread men, heart-to-hearts, and lives she touched could fill volumes. Writing an obituary that would do justice to our beloved Colleen is an impossible task. In the weeks leading up to her death, a family friend, Blair MacDonald, shared with us, “If someone met Colleen, and they didn’t like her, there must be something wrong with them.” She was a faithful member of Ranchero Village Outreach and an active member of St. Matthews Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir. She is preceded in death by her parents, Amanda and Edward Nathe, and brothers, Alan and James Nathe. She is survived by her husband, David; daughters, Sharon (Robert) Harmon and Sandra (Timothy) Leos; sons, David (Krisha) Evers and Anthony (Shannon) Evers; grandchildren, Megan (Sultan Mohmand), Joseph (Megan) and Jason Harmon, Taylor, Lindsey Ann, Carson Howard and Quinn Leos, Emily (Reinald) Achim and Kelsey Evers; and great-grandchildren Ashtynn and Riley Harmon, Avery and Rose Mohmand. Twin sister Doreen Arens, brothers Maynard (Donna), Bob, David (Doris), and Rueben (Darlene) Nathe. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Suncoast Hospice.
