June 29, 1943 - August 21, 2017
My husband and Soul Mate of 57 years, lived and loved life. His favorite thing to do was go hiking in the mountains and desert, usually 2 weeks to a month each year. He always had a vegetable garden and flower beds. He loved watching things grow. Our family always had animals to love. Up until 2014, Wayne had never been in a hospital or on medications. He was diagnosed with prostrate and bone cancer. July 18, 2017 he had emergency spinal surgery which left him paralyzed. On August 21, 2017 God called him to heaven. Our family celebrates his life and will always see him in the flowers and birds. Rest in peace. I love you always, Dorothy Peebles Headley ______________________________________________________________________________ Our father was a very unique man. As a family he took us on an adventure of a lifetime. We saw the natural wonders of the United States, Canada, Caribbean and took a detour across the Rio Grande River into Mexico on burros to get fresh baked cookies. We experienced the Native American Indian Tribes and Culture as we learned of his Cherokee Heritage. As a husband of our mother, he stood by her side from high school sweethearts to the golden years. Carrol Wayne Headley has hiked the entire Appalachian Trail and believed in giving back his heart and soul to Mother Nature and the stars in the universe. In the end he did it his way and rode the solar eclipse for his ultimate journey. We will love and miss you until we meet again, Dad. Your daughter, Delina Louise Headley (Saulsbury) ______________________________________________________________________________ C. Wayne Headley, AKA, Jack Flash. This father and husband was an amazing hiker and avid lover of all things on earth and space. He once got into a quick sand in the middle of the dessert and a small plant helped him pull himself to safety after a long while. He taught us to respect the planet and all it provides us. He also took us on amazing salt water fishing trips. Also took us traveling all over the United States National Parks I treasure those trips. He could also plant and grow the most beautiful flowers and gardens anyone has seen. I will miss you and love you forever, Dad. All of my love and respect.
