Britta Newman Ganni
March 8, 1958 - October 12, 2021
Our dear daughter, sister, cousin and friend left us on October 12 as a result of a fall in her home. She joined the angels as they guided her mother, Martha (Marty) Newman) into the next life six days later. The spark that lit so many of our lives has been extinguished. Britta was born on March 8, 1958, a child with a twinkle in her eye who grew up with a zest for life that was irresistible. She never saw a cloud that didn't have a silver lining and she shared that positive attitude with everyone she met. Her sympathetic ear and encouraging words would leave you with a smile on your face and hope in your heart. Her joyful, often self-deprecating, laughter was a part of every conversation. Britt forged countless friendships in her years at Seminole High School and the University of South Florida. After owning a successful nail salon in Tampa, she saw an opportunity to help others by selling health and long-term care insurance. Later, moving to Miami, she became well known in the public-school communities in Dade and Broward counties by providing children with access to educational and entertaining reading materials. In recent years she returned to Largo to be with, and care for, her mother. She served on the board of her HOA and was active in her church community. Her exuberant spirit is deeply missed by her father, Edward Newman, her "other mother", Cheryl LeClair; her brother Bryan and sister-in-law Cindy; her nephew Deryll Newman and his family Pat Debby and Sean Ferguson, and many much-loved cousins. Waiting for her with the angels were her grandfathers, Woodrow McCollough and Charles Newman; grandmothers, Agnes McCollough and Elizabeth Newman; her brother Deryll and her step-brother Matthew Kent. A funeral service will be held at a later date.
